The emblem of the 304th Polish Bomber Squadron of the RAF, made of solid wood, brings a piece of forgotten history of Polish pilots who fought alongside the Allies during World War II into your interior. The squadron, bearing the honorary name "Land of Silesia" and the name of Prince Józef Poniatowski, was founded on August 23, 1940, in Bramcote and operated from RAF Syerston as part of No. 1 Bomber Group from December 1940. This 3D relief made of premium oak or ash is CNC-milled with a precision of up to 0.075 mm, ensuring a faithful reproduction of all the details of the original emblem approved on November 4, 1943, by the commander of the Polish forces.
The squadron was declared operationally ready on April 24, 1941, with Vickers Wellington Mk I medium bombers, and carried out its first combat mission on the night of April 24/25, 1941, against oil depots in Rotterdam. From August 1940 to December 1946, the 304th Squadron carried out not only bombing missions, but also anti-submarine tasks and transport flights. In May 1942, the squadron was transferred from Bomber Command to Coastal Command, where it remained until the end of the war, tirelessly helping to keep vital British sea lanes open. The original silver insignia with enamel elements – a white and red checkerboard and a shield in blue, white, and red – became a symbol of the courage of Polish airmen.
We offer a choice of materials (oak or ash) and various finishes – natural with hard wax oil, stained, or colored with non-toxic coatings. This wooden emblem is ideal for military history collectors, aviation enthusiasts, or as a reminder of the courage of Polish pilots who left their occupied homeland and continued to fight for freedom. Suitable for home collections, club rooms, or as a meaningful gift for those who appreciate stories of heroism.
