Seven centuries. That is how long the chequered eagle has guarded Moravian identity — on the seals of margraves, on town hall façades, and within the coat of arms of the Czech Republic. Its silver-and-red chequering dates back to the mid-13th century, when Přemysl Otakar II adopted it as the symbol of the Margraviate of Moravia. It survived disputes over tinctures, changes of dynasty, and the fall of an empire — and it endures still.
This Moravian Eagle is carved in our workshop from a single piece of solid wood. A CNC mill shapes the foundation of the motif with hundredth-of-a-millimetre precision — the chequered plumage, the contours of the crown, the beak and talons. Then comes the craftsman's hand: sanding through several grits, applying stain or paint by brush, and sealing with a hard wax oil finish. The motif rises from the wood's surface, giving the emblem a depth that no print or cast can replicate.
